Charles Williams Obituary

Charles Sherwin Williams, 81, passed away peacefully on March 29 in Myrtle Beach after a 4-month battle with cancer.

Charlie was born December 2, 1942 in Meridian, MS where he graduated from high school. He moved to Charlotte, NC in 1969 serving as a regional salesman specializing in children’s clothing for major department stores. In 1992 he made a career change and dedicated himself to helping others. He returned to school at Central Piedmont Community College and obtained his Registered Nurse degree and spent the remainder of his work career on the orthopedic wing of Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte. It was at this time he met his life partner and future husband, Steve Lambert. Together, they enjoyed a 32-year partnership filled with love, travel adventures, countless fun times and making great friends. They retired to Myrtle Beach in 2012. Charlie was an active member of the Prime Timers-Myrtle Beach organization and was proud to serve as President of the organization from 2016-17. Charlie loved travelling, maintaining his many flower beds, lazy strolls through consignment shops seeking treasures, his many two seat convertibles and making sour dough bread to share with his many friends. He will be remembered for his devious smile, quick wit, caring heart and the uncanny ability to make instant friends with anyone he met.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents, CL and Dorothy Williams and his sister, Suzie.

He is survived by his husband, Steve.

No service is planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Charlie’s favorite charity, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
