Barbara Carr, 84 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 10, 2024. She was born on December 27, 1939 in Cohoes New York to Gretchen Carr (Evans) and William Carr.
Barb was an achiever in life! She loved sports and played basketball and softball through high school while being near the top of her class.
Barb's hard work continued during her years at Samaritan Nursing School in Troy, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing as well as the Florence Nightingale Award for best nursing. After graduation, she worked for the Visiting Nurses Association of Troy before serving her country as a nurse in the Air force. After completing a successful tour of service with the Air Force she moved to Manhattan where Ms. Carr was hired at the Visiting Nurse Services and worked for many years. Shortly after starting her job, she moved to an apartment in Yonkers. Feeling adventurous, Barbara tried flipping houses. When that did not go as planned, Barb obtained employment at Beth Abraham Health Services, where she retired from in 2010. During a weekend visit in Myrtle Beach, Barb uncharacteristically bought a condo and retired in South Carolina.
Barb is survived by her sister, Carole Carr, and brother, Roy Carr. She is also survived by her beloved niece, Lori Beeman, great-nephew, Mitchell (Kristiana) Lamb, and great-niece Alexis (Zachary) Smith.
