Joan Ann Jarrett

Joan Ann Jarrett, born into this world on May 8, 1935, in Manhattan, NY was called home to her Lord on April 16, 2024, at the age of 88, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Joan was married to the love of her life Eugene Walton Jarrett (who predeceased her in 2019) for 64 years.  They shared 3 children Michele (Lee), Renee (James- deceased) and Eugene (Doreen) and 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Joan was known for her extraordinary volunteer service providing hospice care to the elderly in her community for 11 years.  She also gleamed with love when spending time with her grandchildren who love her dearly.   Joan’s love for her Lord Jesus has always been paramount in her life.     She participated in many Bible study groups in her devotional prayer room.

In humble recognition of Joan's journey from earthly life to everlasting peace, a Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on May 21, 2024, at 11 am at McMillan Small Chapel - 910 67th Ave N Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.  This day, which marks the anniversary of her sacred union in marriage, will now also honor her spiritual union with God. A burial service will follow in early June at St. Denis Cemetery in NY where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband.

In a spirit of gratitude for the blessed life of Joan and in respect for the sanctity of all creation, those wishing to honor her memory are encouraged to make charitable contributions to Hudson Valley Hospice of NY or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Joan's gentle soul and kind heart touched many throughout her blessed life, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May her soul find eternal rest and may perpetual light shine upon her.
